13+ Entrance Exams

The 13+ exam can be stressful as it determines progression for your child to their chosen senior school. Finding the help of an experienced tutor can reassure your child and help them to take the exam with greater confidence and success.

There is normally a digital ISEB pre-test, where children are assessed in English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning which measures current attainment. Following a positive outcome, your child will then be asked to sit in-school maths and English entrance exams. There will be an interview and group tasks to assess how your child works within a small team. Conditional offers are made in Year 6 and depend on the results of common entrance exams.

In Year 8, pupils are assessed across a variety of subjects and it’s important to find a tutor with the relevant experience, patience and enthusiasm. Find out which schools we have prepared pupils for on our School Destinations page.
